VTA SINGLES TENNIS LADDER
The VTA Singles Tennis Ladder will continue indefinitely. The Ladder is for those VTA players who are competitive and wish to play singles and challenge other players to singles competition.
There is an excellent website that offers a tennis ladder system. They keep track of the players and their challenges, whether they won or lost etc. The website allows players to contact other players on the ladder by email to challenge them and allows players to enter their own scores. Only VTA members will be allowed on this ladder at the present time. www.globaltennisnetwork.com
If you are a current VTA member and want to join the VTA SINGLES LADDER, please email jlabuhn@shaw.ca with your name and you will be added to the ladder.
Once you are added to the ladder, you will receive a one-time only passcode from globaltennisnetwork.com that allows you to go on-line, open an account and activate your name, upgrade your status, and initiate challenges with other VTA members who have activated their names.
Read the Rules below and then email jlabuhn@shaw.ca with your NAME, PHONE NUMBER, if you wish to join the VTA Singles Tennis Ladder.
The LADDER RULES are as follows:
The ladder is open to the following players:
" Playing Level: 3.0 to 5.0+ - Singles Matches - Gender: M & F
" This ladder is free to join.
" This ladder will go indefinitely.
" Teams have 7 days to accept or decline a challenge before it is automatically declined. You must accept or decline on the Tennis Ladder website or it will not be recorded.
" Teams will not be penalized for declining challenges.
" You have 21 days to arrange and play your challenge game once it has been accepted. After that time the challenge will be automatically cancelled.
" Teams may challenge any player on the Ladder, above or below them.
" There is no limit on how many times you may challenge another player.
The following match format will be used:
" Best of 3 Sets: Best of 3 sets is first to win 2 sets. Each set is first to win 6 or more games with a margin of 2 games. A tie-breaker is played if each team has won 6 games. Example scores: 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 or 6-4, 7-6
The following system will be used to compute a player's position on the ladder:
" Leap Frog: This is the most basic and simplest ranking system. When a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player, the lower ranked player "leap frogs" over the higher ranked player. If the higher ranked player wins, nothing happens.
" After the match, the winner will submit the score. Check your 'STATS' to see how your are doing and what you ranking is after each match.
" All ladder members should maintain current contact information. If you change phone numbers or e-mail addresses, you must update your profile so other members can contact you and so you can receive email notifications.
